Super Sweet 16

Marlye turned 16 on valentines day and no ordinary cake would do. She had an amazing party and I was so happy to be a part of it. We decided to make her cake look like a stack of gifts. Marlye's Mom joked that Marlye should always get chocolates, roses and gifts for Valentines day, since it is also her birthday... and that's what I created for her.

I'll be out for a while

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that I will be out for a while. My Dad passed away on Wednesday. I don't expect to be in the office much for the next week or so. I'm sorry to tell you all that I won't be competing in Let's Eat Cake. It's just too much for me right now. I do still urge all of to go and support Melissa in her great cause!
Thanks,
Kristy

The Details... scrollwork

The next of the "posh" details I want to show you is scrollwork. It is a hand piped detail that can be very time consuming, but can look amazing!

This beautiful cake was made for one of the sweetest brides ever! Her theme was rustic and elegant with vibrant fall colors. I absolutely love how this cake came out. The bride loved it too... She even sent me this letter from her honeymoon because she couldn't wait to tell me what she thought of the cake.

Words cannot describe our beautiful cake. We went to cut the cake and when I saw it I cried, I couldn't help it, it was absolutely gorgeous. It is exactly what I envisioned, and so much more. You are amazing and so talented. Everyone was talking about how good it tastes and how beautiful it was. Thank you so much for your hard work.

Amazing...right? I love my job!

The Details

I thought it would be fun to go over some of the little details that make a cake a Posh Pastry. The first detail is one of my favorites... the crimped edge. This is a unique detail that is unexpected and beautiful. It looks great on the top edge of the cake, especially when it is hand painted with a contrasting color.I love the simple elegance of this cake. Ashely knew exactly what she wanted when she came into my studio. Clean lines, modern and elegant... It turned out exactly the way she wanted it. I love this one too... simple but beautiful!

Tiny Love

Ever since Kenya, from Unique Designs, saw my pink and black cake... she was in love! She sent me the sweetest email about it, and blogged about it too.

Tuesday was her birthday and to celebrate I created a mini version of the "Kenya" cake. You can read her post about it on the Unique Designs Blog. Happy Birthday Kenya! Thanks for the love!!!

Tea for Two... a two year old!

I love these tiny cakes. They were made for a little princess tea party. The center cake was for the birthday princess and each little princess guest had her own cake. Aren't they cute! It was such an adorable party. I was happy to be a part of it!

I can't believe it!

Big news... Kerry Vincent is now a judge for Let's Eat Cake! Honestly, I didn't think I'd have a cake judged by her so early in my cake career! I am completely thrilled and terrified! I know she is an amazing, kind lady, but her work is unbelievably flawless.

I am really excited to meet her. I hope she'll autograph her book for me.
